The Need for Change
The customer operated a suite of R&D and enterprise applications that required improved automation, scalability, and security across multiple environments. With teams spread across geographies, there was a growing need for streamlined DevOps workflows and hybrid access capabilities to connect on-premises systems with AWS workloads.

Our Solution
AeonX Digital Technology Pvt. Ltd., an AWS Advanced Tier Partner, designed and deployed a robust multi-environment DevOps platform to address these challenges. The architecture supported application lifecycle management, hybrid access, and infrastructure security across multiple business-critical workloads.

Environment Design and Networking Setup
- Four isolated environments were created: Development, QA, Production, and Research (R-Search), each in separate Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs)
- AWS Transit Gateway enabled inter-environment communication while maintaining isolation policies
- Site-to-Site VPN connected AWS environments to the customer’s on-premises network, providing secure and seamless access for research and development teams
- All environments were deployed across multiple Availability Zones for high availability and fault tolerance

Application Deployment Strategy
- Applications in Development, QA, and Production environments were deployed using Amazon ECS with EC2 launch type
- Workloads ran behind Application Load Balancers, supported by Auto Scaling Groups
- Databases were hosted on dedicated EC2 instances for greater control over compliance, performance tuning, and patching
- The R&D environment (R-Search) supported customer-managed containers and high-compute workloads outside of ECS to enable flexible research use cases

CI/CD Pipeline Implementation
- A centralized pipeline was built using AWS CodePipeline, integrated with GitHub for version control and continuous integration
- AWS CodeBuild handled container image builds and stored them in Amazon ECR
- AWS CodeDeploy facilitated deployments to ECS across Dev, QA, and Production environments
- This implementation reduced manual intervention and standardized deployment practices across the organization

Monitoring, Logging, and Security
- Amazon CloudWatch enabled infrastructure and application monitoring with custom metrics and dashboards
- AWS Simple Notification Service (SNS) provided real-time alerting to relevant stakeholders
- AWS CloudTrail recorded API activity for full auditability
- AWS KMS was used for encryption of data at rest and in transit
- IAM and AWS WAF applied security best practices across the application stack
- Site24x7 was integrated to monitor external uptime and complement native AWS observability tools

Approximately 80 percent reduction in manual deployment steps using CI/CD pipelines
